About the Author


Dan Small is a partner in the Boston and Miami offices of Holland & Knight LLP. He is a member of the firm's trial, white-collar, global investigations, health law, education, and securities litigation practice groups. Mr. Small's practice focuses on a broad range of internal and external investigations, complex civil litigation, witness preparation, and white-collar criminal matters. Mr. Small has extensive jury trial and other litigation experience, based on ten years as a federal prosecutor and many years in private practice.Mr. Small has been involved in several high-profile cases around the country. He was lead defense attorney for former Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards, trial counsel for former Virginia governor Robert McDonnell, counsel for Camille and William Cosby, counsel in a prominent SEC Inter-net fraud case, Special Counsel to the Rhode Island Ethics Commission, and Special Counsel to the Massachusetts House Ethics Committee. He was general counsel for a publicly traded health-care management firm, where he oversaw in-house legal and risk management staff, outside counsel, professional liability and other litigation, and facility, entity, and physician contracting. Mr. Small was also a lecturer at Harvard Law School, where he taught federal litigation. He has taught trial advocacy at Harvard and other law schools and CLE programs.
